For the last few years I have been lax on operating for various reasons. I bought an Ailunce HD1 DMR handheld and started making more contacts. I even met a couple new friends via DMR.
I look forward every work morning on the way to work to speaking with my new friends, N8DKB, Keith from Ohio and KC5DRI, John from Pennsylvania. We don’t talk long, but we greet each other and check in to see how each other is doing. I miss the days that for one reason or another that I can connect with them. This is a great thing with Ham Radio… Making new friends around the country and around the world.
I got a Kenwood TS-570SG for my birthday this year from my wife, and I am enjoying FT8 and other digital modes along with being able to talk to people via SSB. I have missed being able to do SSB and digital for about the last 10 years and am happy I can finally get back into it.
For Christmas, she got me a headset mic and foot pedal for my radio. I am enjoying those also. I have such a good wife. I am so appreciative of her.
Looking back over 2019 I was astonished at the number of contacts I made for the year. I am putting a chart below to show the numbers.
I hope your 2020 will find you enjoying Ham Radio as much as I am now.
